HOW IT ALL STARTED

It all started with Texas football! We met at a tailgate for the San Jose State game on September 9th, 2017 and hit it off right away. Because of a ticket mishap, we ended up sitting away from the student section and were able to talk through the whole game - especially since it was a blow-out! From that point forward we were basically inseparable.
Our first few dates included rides to and from the airport and very casual trips to Pluckers and Torchy's. But, our first real date was the Texas-OU game and Texas State Fair. Eventually we had a more traditional first date, with dinner and a movie instead of football, when we went to see Murder on the Orient Express. Since then we've continued to share our love of food and travel, and we hope to share a little bit of all of that with you at our wedding!
HOW HE ASKED

Despite COVID and living long-distance, Michael still wanted a surprise proposal. He set the stage by planning a trip to a mystery destination. The night before leaving Houston, we planned on going to dinner with some friends in the museum district. Little did Kaitlyn know, Michael had secretly teamed up with those friends to reserve what seemed like a fortuitous parking spot. That spot perfectly set up a walk through Hermann Park to "meet up with our friends to coming out of the Natural Science Museum." It was all a decoy for the big moment when he got down on one knee in front of the colonnade. Surprise accomplished!
After he asked, we caught up with the surprise photographer (check out the pictures below!) and headed to the Toasted Coconut for some fun tiki-themed celebrations! We spent the rest of the week in Austin re-living some of our first memories together and revisiting some of our favorite spots!
